Song and MV ReviewEdit
According to Open the Kpop, "Jeon Soyeon is supposed to be making a debut in a new girl group put out by Cube Entertainment. However, before that, I supposed Cube decided to give Jeon Soyeon a little more of the limelight before she becomes part of a group. With that being said, “Idle Song” is the comeback of Rookie Jeon Soyeon and I loved “Jelly” so I’m thrilled for this song.
First off, the music video gave off some retro vibes like it was meant to take place in the 1950s/1960s. There was a bunch of retro items such as the washer, soda, and the salon scene. I think the idea behind the music video was to present an idea of waiting. Everything happening in the video was during the waiting process not so much the initialization or the finalization. It was the middle ground where things just take time. I was also snooping around in the comments and apparently, this music video makes references to the new girl group that’s set to debut in April.
I love the style of this song. It uses a clean electric guitar with a bit of flanger and I think a ceramic slide. It creates a lazy day vibe throughout the entire song. In fact, this song kind of made me a bit sleepy. The music also had a sort of retro reminiscence to it but Jeon Soyeon’s rapping style is still cute but fierce. She’s like that cute girl you don’t want to mess with.
